I had the trader and builder larger buildings, 3 large farms (1 for meds). The best base has what you want, and none of the useless crap. Its really up to your play style. Having 2 amenities squeezed in one small slot in the building is way too efficient than putting up 2 outposts or 2 spaces to power up and provide water in your base.
